God's Grace

Know that the LORD, He is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;[a]
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
For the LORD is good;
His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations.
Psalm 100:3-5

How is it possible to love someone so much? Its been 4 days and I'm absolutely smitten. This little girl, my little girl, this gift of God's grace to me...its overwhelming. It gives me a glimpse of what God's love for us must be. I honestly thought I could never love anything more than Gavin and now I know it is completely possible and it happened instantly. :)
We struggled with a name for 41 weeks and 2 days. We decided on Grace before she was born and when we saw her, we knew it suited her perfectly...thank you Lord for Grace. :) This little girl, though a peanut in size, is strong and so alert. She has her eyes open all the time, and she loves to be held. Her sounds are so freaking cute...so girlie and they make us laugh. Her cry is developing and its beautiful, except at 4am. :)
Ok, so everyone said that Gavin would seem so big in comparison to the new baby. Yah...I just didn't expect him to look like an 8 year old walking in the door. Oh my gosh...I am telling you. I almost didn't recognize him. I thought, how was I thinking you were my baby, just 2 days ago, you are huge!! I honestly thought... "Look at the size of that boys head!" He has been amazing in this transition so far, although maybe a little bored. We are so grateful, because we are EXHAUSTED. :) Thank you MOM for rescuing him and rescuing us this week!

Gavin's 3rd Birthday!

From 3-9-09 Gavin's Birthday

Click on the picture to see all of his birthday pics!!
Gavin's 3rd Birthday started and ended with frosting filled fingers. You can't beat that. He walked into our bedroom at 8:00 am with frosting all over his face and he said, "Mom, I need a napkin." Ummmm.... With a quick "good morning" and a chuckle I ran into the kitchen to find what was left of his birthday cake on the kitchen floor. We got a good laugh and figured that was a pretty good way to start out a 3rd birthday. :) Our day was filled with wonderful visitors wanting to celebrate Gavin. I'm telling you this kid is so loved. It started with Becky, Raegan, and Reese dropping by to play and chat. Then Mimi scooped us up and took us out to lunch at Ruby's diner( Gavin's favorite). Kelly and Jessie Babcock brought over the coolest "3" balloon and played with Gavin on the swing set. Then Grandma Marie and Grandpa John stopped by and made a special birthday dinner, one a 3 year old totally loved and appreciated...hot dogs and hamburgers. :) To cap it all off, Nana and Poppy brought a birthday cake over at 7:30. We sang, ate, and went straight for the PJ's. The next day, he said, "Mom, who's coming to my house today?" He LOVED playing all day with people he loved. What a blessing to have amazing friends and family.
I love this age and am so proud of our little 3 year old. He is such a lovey kid. He tells me things like,"Thanks for being so nice to me mommy", "we giggles mommy", and "you look so pretty mommy". He encourages us and tells his daddy, "Good job daddy, you are working soooo hard" when he mowes the lawn and "Your the best daddy in the whole world." Josh is so proud that Gavin was reading days before his 3rd birthday. He has always loved his letters and sounds, but a whole new world has opened up as he is able to put the sounds together. Yay Gavin! He loves it and we are so proud of him. He is now 41 1/2 inches tall, 36 pounds, and wears a size 10-11 Toddler shoe. He should be right? I mean he is going to be a BIG brother here in a couple of days!

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.

Family time

This is the day the Lord has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24
I realized that I seemed to have abandoned my camera at some point during this renovation process. I missed having pics of Gavin just being a kid. So I decided to get my camera out and have it ready to capture the moments when my heart just melts watching my son enjoy life.
These moments include: playing with Thomas the train, baking muffins with mom, eating breakfast in our pj's, and watching hail fall in the backyard.
I am so grateful for these days that my Lord made.

Saturday in the yard

The yard...has never had a better ring to it. I can't tell you how blessed we feel to have a yard. Yes, even though our "lawn" is actually mowed weeds (at the moment), it is perfectly wonderful to us. After much debate and discussion in the isles of Home Depot, Josh settled on a weed whacker...an exciting first purchase to future maintain his grass. We also said a happy farewell to the junk pile of construction debris that has accumulated this past 4 months. We have spent so much time fussing on the inside that it was so nice to be outside together, enjoy the sun, and finally work on the exterior of the house. We find ourselves marveling at God's blessings and appreciating the fruits of hard work.
